Well, Saturday was so much fun! Jonathan's 2nd year birthday party was on April 2nd from 2:30 until 4:30. All the kids showed up and then around 3:00 pm the firetruck arrived. The kids were so excited! Jonathan and all his friends played all day and were so thrilled to be outside. If you ever want the firetruck to come out to a party, all you have to do is call your local firehouse and they will come out for FREE. This is a service they provide to the community as part of their Fire Prevention Program. Anyway, after the kids played it was now time for cupcakes, ice cream and presents. Jonathan was so blessed by the kindness of his guest especially our friend Cassie. She had a chair of his Nanny's that passed about 10 years ago. She had personalized the chair for Jonathan. This was so special and will be passed on down the family. Thanks, Cassie! After everyone left, Jonathan crashed. We got a bath and he went to sleep about 6:30. He was so tired. This was a wonderful day and I remember thinking that this was another fulfillment to our dream. We had a yard full of kids and one of them was our son~ JONATHAN!!!! Fun was had by all and we are sure next year will be even better.

Two Years Old
Yesterday, our little one turned two at exactly 7:29 pm. Our world has changed so much for the better in the pat two years. Jonathan has made ever day fun and exciting and happier for us. He takes the smallest joy and turns it into the greatest experience in the world. We spent yesterday as a family and just enjoyed one another. Jonathan is a very unique child that loves life so much and is very content most of the time. He makes things that seem like a struggle a blessing. His actual party is Saturday with his friends from church and he is so excited. I will post pictures later about that. We are cherishing every day and know that each day will only be better! May God bless you all in everything you do!

Planning Birthday Number Two
Well, the planning has been going on for months but now the execution has begun! That sounds very ominous but we are gearing up for Jonathan's second birthday party. This will be very low key compared to last year so that is good but we are still trying to make this a very memorable year. We are having a Firetruck theme because that is the thing he loves most in life (that and trains). I will post pictures later so that everyone can see how much fun we had.
Easter is getting closer and that is always a fun time of year. Jonathan hated it last year because he was not walking good and hated the grass. This year he will never want to stop hunting eggs so we will tire before he does. We always go to a convention the weekend before Easter so I am sure we will all be worn out before the festivities begin.
Anyway, hope everyone's week is going great. We are sneezing, cough, and laughing our way through!
Till next time!

Playroom in Progress
Jonathan is knocking on two so I decided that I should turn our garage into a playroom for him. My sister-in-law, Brandi, does this whenever they move into a new house. She always dedicates a room for the girls to play in. I got to thinking a few weeks ago and decided that this would be a perfect plan for our storage shortage. He is getting adjusted but still loves spreading his toys all over the house. Probably in about two weeks, we are going to paint the floor so it will be safe and spotless for him and his friends! I am also going to put decorations on the walls instead of painting so that I do not have to paint. It is so good for him to have his own space. Will post pics later when it is finished!

Almost two
Well, it really has been too long. I have been living life instead of blogging but now feel that I can do more of this type of thing again. Jonathan has been growing and learning so quickly that some days it is very hard to keep up! He is such a joy and a blessing in our life and all that he touches. He really loves people and has become such a warm and friendly child. We are in the process of planning his second birthday and loving all that entails. Bye for now! Love to all!

The Many Adventures of Parenthood

Well, it has been awhile since my first blog and I thought it was time for an update. Jonathan has kept us very busy by teaching us how to be parents and how to treat a special young man. We have been to the pediatrician twice and he now is weighing in at almost 14 pounds! We are shocked at how fast he is growing. He is presently 2 months and 19 days old. We have had a few mishaps over the past few months. When he was 6 weeks old, I cut his thumb so deep with the nail clippers that he got an infection. We had to visit the After Hours clinic. I was mortified that I had hurt him but the nurses and doctors all made me feel better/helped me forgive myself for hurting him! About a week later he started getting really sick and we had to go back to the pediatrician. Jonathan was allergic to his formula and is now back to normal. He is on special formula that I am sure when he stops taking it we will be able to take that money and start a college fund for him. WOW! HE has continued to be a blessing and we are so thankful to God daily for His timing. We have hit some snags with the birthfather that will delay the finalization of the adoption. We are praying and knowing that God will take care of all these issues for us. Please keep us in your prayers that these issues will resolve as quickly as possible.

Our Journey
For those that are reading this blog for the first time let me introduce myself. I am Millie and a mother of a 7 week old newborn boy. He is the best gift I have ever gotten but I am getting ahead of myself. Twelve years ago this June my husband and I started trying to have children. We tried and tried and tried until we finally got pregnant via IVF. We were thrilled but that was soon ending. I had a miscarriage and we made the decision to stop treatments. We had tried it all and were done. At this point, I needed to have some surgery and we also decided that is was best if we inquired about adopting since we were unable to have biological children. We have friends that had adopted and were thrilled with the prospect of finally being parents. While I was healing from surgery, we began the paperwork pregnancy. Those of you who have been through adoption know exactly what I am talking about. For about 9 months, you fill out form after form and then wait until you are contacted. Well, we had filled out all the papers, had our homestudy and were prepared to wait. We did not have to wait long. In January of this year, we were contacted by a birthmother who wanted us to have the child she was carrying. We prayed and thought about this a great deal and decided that this was the child we had been praying for. In February, we sat down with the birthmother and our attorney to make final plans. We then began to wait again! All went well and we now have Jonathan! He is our true gift from God and worth every day of waiting. This is why I have titled our blog "Those Who Wait Upon the Lord." We have waited and God blessed us in His time.
