The Many Adventures of Parenthood

Well, it has been awhile since my first blog and I thought it was time for an update. Jonathan has kept us very busy by teaching us how to be parents and how to treat a special young man. We have been to the pediatrician twice and he now is weighing in at almost 14 pounds! We are shocked at how fast he is growing. He is presently 2 months and 19 days old. We have had a few mishaps over the past few months. When he was 6 weeks old, I cut his thumb so deep with the nail clippers that he got an infection. We had to visit the After Hours clinic. I was mortified that I had hurt him but the nurses and doctors all made me feel better/helped me forgive myself for hurting him! About a week later he started getting really sick and we had to go back to the pediatrician. Jonathan was allergic to his formula and is now back to normal. He is on special formula that I am sure when he stops taking it we will be able to take that money and start a college fund for him. WOW! HE has continued to be a blessing and we are so thankful to God daily for His timing. We have hit some snags with the birthfather that will delay the finalization of the adoption. We are praying and knowing that God will take care of all these issues for us. Please keep us in your prayers that these issues will resolve as quickly as possible.

Our Journey

For those that are reading this blog for the first time let me introduce myself. I am Millie and a mother of a 7 week old newborn boy. He is the best gift I have ever gotten but I am getting ahead of myself. Twelve years ago this June my husband and I started trying to have children. We tried and tried and tried until we finally got pregnant via IVF. We were thrilled but that was soon ending. I had a miscarriage and we made the decision to stop treatments. We had tried it all and were done. At this point, I needed to have some surgery and we also decided that is was best if we inquired about adopting since we were unable to have biological children. We have friends that had adopted and were thrilled with the prospect of finally being parents. While I was healing from surgery, we began the paperwork pregnancy. Those of you who have been through adoption know exactly what I am talking about. For about 9 months, you fill out form after form and then wait until you are contacted. Well, we had filled out all the papers, had our homestudy and were prepared to wait. We did not have to wait long. In January of this year, we were contacted by a birthmother who wanted us to have the child she was carrying. We prayed and thought about this a great deal and decided that this was the child we had been praying for. In February, we sat down with the birthmother and our attorney to make final plans. We then began to wait again! All went well and we now have Jonathan! He is our true gift from God and worth every day of waiting. This is why I have titled our blog "Those Who Wait Upon the Lord." We have waited and God blessed us in His time.
